Ali Hinga Nevitt, Principal Campus Counsel

Ali Hinga Nevitt joined UC Legal in 2023 as Principal Campus Counsel for UC Santa Cruz. Ali advises on a wide variety of legal matters, including intellectual property, privacy and data security, global engagement, research development, employment, and labor relations.  Prior to joining UC Legal, Ali served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Public Advocacy Division of the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia where her practice focused on workers’ rights and federal affirmative civil litigation of constitutional and administrative law issues.  Ali has worked as a litigator at Jackson Lewis in Philadelphia and as in-house counsel at Driscoll’s, Inc.  She began her legal career as a federal law clerk to the Honorable John A. Mendez of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California.

 Ali received her B.A. from University of San Diego, and her J.D. from University of California, Davis.

 Ali is a member of the State Bars of California, District Columbia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
